Bringing People Closer to Jesus Christ through His Church
That we enable many more to hear the Gospel and to come to know, serve and love Jesus Christ in the saving communion of His Catholic Church, so that, persevering in faith, hope and charity, they may one day reach the happiness of Heaven.
"Go, make disciples of all nations" (Mt 28:19)
That we assist all Catholics, especially those who are not yet practising, to reach a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, to be more intentional disciples and, discerning their charisms, to become more actively engaged in the Church's mission.
"He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood, lives in me, and I live in him" (John 6:55-56)
TO BE TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON THE HOLY SPIRIT
That shifting from maintenance to mission, we trust more completely in God through prayer, imploring the Holy Spirit to inspire our clergy and our laity with constant joy and creativity to develop and realise new, innovative ministries and ways of Christian living.
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” (Acts 1:8)
That all our parish and our school communities become ever more outward-facing service-centres, brighter beacons of mission, dialogue and service to everyone around, especially to the poor, the homeless, those in need.
“In so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me” (Mt. 25: 40)
"When you are totally consumed by the Eucharistic fire, then you will be able more consciously to thank God, who has called you to become part of His family. Then you will enjoy the peace that those who are happy in this world have never experienced, because true happiness, does not consist in the pleasures of this world, or in earthly things, but in peace of conscience, which we only have if we are pure of heart and mind."

OUR F OUR MAIN PRIORITIES
1. There are 3.129 million people living in our Diocese - how can we reach out to them?
2. There are 240,000 Catholics in our Diocese of whom 35,000 practice (14%) - how can we fan into a flame the smouldering wicks?
3. There are 150 priests, 50 deacons and 38 religious communities in our There are 91 parishes and 76 Catholic schools in our Diocese - how can we make our communities less self-referential and more evangelistic?
4.There are 91 parishes and 76 Catholic schools in our Diocese - how can we make our communities less self-referential and more evangelistic?
OUR THREE AREAS OF SPECIAL ATTENTION
a. There are over 30,000 students in our schools - how can we convert them and help them come to a personal-passionate relationship with Jesus Christ?
b. We are short of priests, but we are also short of people; of laity truly converted to Christ, of people willing to take responsibility, 'can-do' Catholics. How can we alleviate this?
c. We are good at buildings - but what about people? How can we target more resources at evangelisation, University chaplaincies, formation for mission, the homeless, the needy?
